The Prayer Jar

Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness!
You have given me relief when I was in distress.
Be gracious to me and hear my prayer!
                                                     ~Psalm 4:1

My children are too old for Easter baskets this year but a prayer jar will last forever!

Every week a new prayer is written and placed in this jar.  As troubles arise in each of their lives and verses are discovered they are placed in this jar and prayed over constantly.

The girls’ jars are complete and finishing my son’s in the morning.

At the end of the year, they will get their jars to read through and it will be their gift to cherish.

Have a Happy Easter and remember the best way to be the best mom possible is to pray for yourself, your spouse/significant other, and your children.

God Bless!

Bringing Youth Group Home

“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” ~Proverbs 22:6

For the last few months I have been struggling to get my son to go to youth group.  As I have prayed over this fervently, God finally gave me the answer the other day in Lifeway.  “I’ll buy a study we can do at home together”.  So, since both the 14 year old and 19 year old can’t make it to youth group on Wednesdays, I’ll bring it to the house!  I’m a little nervous but also super pumped about this.  I haven’t done anything like this since they were little!!! But then I asked “why not?”

We have to remember that no matter how old our children are, we are still parents.  Yes, they can take care of themselves but without proper guidance and teaching and training, life can get hard real quick.  Everyday I talk to my 25 year old.  Sometimes they are long conversations sometimes they are a quick text message, and sometimes, I just don’t want to talk but everyday I hear from her.  When I don’t, I know something is not right and I reach out. My job as a parent never stops!!!

It can be tiring to be always “on”as a mom.  Even when they get older, they still only talk to you when you are on the phone or in the restroom or when you are trying to rest.  Even when they get older they still need you to cook them a meal, love on them and comfort them when they are sick. It can be exhausting shuffling kids from point A to point B.  But then they get the drivers license and you miss taking them and having those little conversations in the car. And you would give anything for that moment once again.

Here is what I know today:   I would give anything to go back and do it all over again to really bask and take in those moments with Megan and Marissa.  I am down to my last one at home and I am learning to put a new spin on this because one day there won’t be anyone to drop off in the morning. One day they will all have their own families, their own lives.  But the one thing I do know, they will never not know they are loved.  I will never not be there for them.   Just because they are grown does not mean they do not need me.  It means my job as a mom is different. I lean on my parents everyday, so why shouldn’t they lean on me.

So, today I prepared for youth group at the house and my son’s best friend and his mom will be joining us.  They have been our extended family for quite some time.  We will fellowship and worship together tonight at we study The Battle Plan for Prayer Teen Bible Study.

To prepare for this I have put together my Mom Prayer Journal for Christi and myself.  This is where we will journal everything about being a mother and all our prayers for our children.

wp-1456947275748.jpgwp-1456943946689.jpg

wp-1456947669950.jpg In here I have a spot for all those awesome downloads, prayer calendars, bible studies, etc I find online.  Then I have a section with paper and dividers for our children and my step grandchildren. But I digress!  I will save this for another post another day……..

I have also put together some sheets for the kids tonight and found some on the internet.

The first thing I put together is the battle plan worksheet!  You can find it here–>Teen Battle Plan Session 1 I had to add some baseball images to it to make it interesting for the boys!  (In my internet search I could not find anything teen boy friendly so I created it).  This sheet is the main points I wanted to get across tonight.

One of the topics we will discuss tonight is confession of sins.   So after many hours of searching for something appropriate, I took an old favorite Catholic examination of conscience and made it into a Christian examination of conscience.  You can find it here –> Confession Sheet

I will also be using some others but again I’ll save that for some other posts.  There is so much I have done to prepare for tonight.  I just hope the boys have fun as they begin to learn what it has taken me 44 years to figure out-prayer is the answer to EVERYTHING!

I’m sure they will since we will also be making prayer jars!  WHAT? Of course my inner Martha Stewart had to create something!

At the end of the day, I will just be happy to teach these young men (and the young woman) about my new passion for prayer and all the good it brings to your life.

Tonight I will be blessed with 2 young men and a young woman and one of my dearest friends who all mean the world to me.  I look forward to what God has in store tonight……….

There is much more to come!  God has put so much on my heart lately and I can’t keep up (hence the reason for the many prayer journals I have purchased lately). Copious notes and conversations being recorded.  But until then…………

God Bless

Prayer-Keys to the Kingdom Part 1

I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” ~ Matthew 16:19

My husband has spent quite a few years studying for his M.Div and now his Doctorate.  He has had many assignments.  However, my favorite assignment he had to do was one called “Capture the Sermon“.  In this assignment, he had to listen to and rewrite the sermons in his words as he would teach the lesson.  From that assignment he wrote one called “Prayer-Keys to the Kingdom“.    This one is special because it was a sermon by our favorite Pastor, Steve Griffith out of Dallas, TX.  Steve was not only Lee’s mentor but also the Pastor who married us in July.  I also owe Steve a lot because it was him who gave me my husband back.  Without Steve, Lee would not be in my life or our son’s life.

This is a very timely find because of my new passion for my relationship with God and my desire to improve my prayer life.  Since watching the movie War Room, I have reignited my passion for the LORD and my prayer life.  Imagine my surprise when I was going through this file and found this beauty at the bottom of the stack.  God’s perfect timing once again!

Here it is:

wp-1453485935397.pngPrayer, there is nothing simpler or more powerful.  In 1 Timothy 2:1, we see the first instruction Paul gave the church was to pray.  Prayer is a constant challenge for most Christians- finding time, following up, knowing what to pray for.  And here lies the problem-making it an activity on the to-do list instead of a lifestyle that leads to victory.

Ephesians 6:18 tells us to “Pray always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to the this end with perseverance and all suppliaction for all Saints” This means:

  • Be sensitive to the Holy Spirit
  • Don’t stop praying
  • Call on all believers to help you pray
  • Pray for one another

We are in a constant attitude of prayer; a constant state of communicating with the LORD; a continual dependence on Him, moment by moment in life.  1 Thessalonians 5:17 says “Pray without ceasing.” We should pray about everything and on all occasions.  Anytime, Anyplace. Whether we are in prayer circles, meetings, our closet, family table, bible classes, devotionals, intercessions we should be walking and talking with God.

Prayer is our spiritual fuel.  We are human but now we have a spiritual engine.  That engine needs not human fuel or fuel of the world but prayer, which supplies our spiritual needs.  Prayer provides the energy needed to wear our spiritual armor (aka The Armor of God).  We cannot fight spiritual battles in our own strength-running on human effort.  We MUST rely on PRAYER.  It is the key to wearing God’s Armor into Victory!

Satan will use every device to keep us from praying. He will cause physical fatigue and zap our energy.  He will make us mentally unfit for prayer through the cares and burdens of the home and business.  He will destroy our power and prayer life through doubt, discouragement and depression.  So, when we feel least like praying, this is the time we need most to pray, for Satan has already gained a foothold in us.  The enemy knows when we haven’t prayed and moves into attack.  Prayer CANNOT be a matter of emotion.  It must be a CHOICE OF WILL.  A constant act of devotion and communication with God.

We must pray in prosperity and adversity; sickness and in health.  When we pray, pray prayers of praise and thanksgiving.  Then pray for what we will, desire and need.  James 4:2 says “we do not have because we do not ask…”  Often we strive after something without even praying about it and asking God for it.  Asking is the rule of the kingdom. If Jesus had to ask, you and I cannot expect to be exempted from it.  God knows what we need but HE wants us to ask Him as a sign of faith and dependence on Him.

The Holy Spirit provides us with power.  “Praying in Spirit” is all about God’s will.  We learn to pray the will of and according to the Word of God by yielding to the power of the Spirit who lives in us.  The Spirit directs us to pray in alignment with God’s plan and purposes, so God is able to answer.  If we pray on our own strength and wisdom, we will not find agreement with God.  We must have the mind of God which the Spirit provides as we pray.

Praying needs to become natural to you!  We must have perseverance in prayer, not giving up.  Prayer should also be done out of spiritual willingness and should not be forced.

The enemy has many ways he will try to discourage you from praying.  Let’s say you have two good days of praying in a row.  Satan will try to convince you it will be like that the rest of your life.  Listen closely, it won’t!  The third day when your prayer life is fruitless, the enemy will try to convince you that you’ve blown it and there is no use trying anymore.  THIS IS A LIE!!!  Do not listen!

If you have a couple of good days of prayer, then thank God for them and try for a third.  If the third day is a failure, just pray again on the fourth day.  Forget what is past and start anew each day.  Persevere in prayer.  That is the only way to get it done.

An old saying about the devil and prayer is that “The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying.  He fears nothing from prayer-less studies, prayer-less works or prayer-less religion.  He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom but trembles when we pray.”

And that is the first half of his sermon that was completed on September 6, 2010. Tomorrow I will share keys to prayer effectiveness and some guidance on prayer from Paul.  This is my favorite part of this sermon.  However, if you are like me, and not holding a M.Div. as my husband does then you have quite a bit to ponder for now.  I have to read and reread to fully grasp his words and the content.  I encourage you to do the same.

I am blessed with such a God-fearing man full of wisdom on the subject of our walk with the LORD.  Sometimes I get overwhelmed to make sure I’m living up to the standards Lee has but what I, what we both have realized is each of us has our own walk with the LORD.  Lee’s calling is his own and my calling is my own.  Our expectations for our walks are tailored to each of us but there are certain expectations we share.  This is a lesson we both had to learn the hard way.  It took us both humbling ourselves and almost losing one another to learn it.  Place your spouse/significant other in God’s hands and He will give you what you need.  Together, as one, we now encourage and support one another in our walks through the powerful gift of PRAYER.

God Bless,

Myra

My Momspace/War Room Update

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.  But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Matthew 6:5-6

Since I have moved to our temporary new home, a new space has opened up for me….an entire bedroom. What a blessing even though I must share this space with someone now.  And I am absolutely thankful for that.  There is no greater joy than beginning and ending my day with my husband.  And now we have a special space that is just for our relationship with the LORD.

It all came together quite nicely.  It started when my desk broke and I found a table with 4 chairs for $25 over 2 years ago.  I was blessed with a beautiful new dining table and able to use the table every morning before my house gets stirring.

image

Then I purchased some cork squares at Walmart for $6 as well to make my Prayer Wall.  This where my prayers go up.  These are handwritten or printed scriptures from pinterest or Internet searches as well as The War Room strategic verses needed to protect me and mine. This is a work in progress.  Updates will happen frequently!!!

image

Finally, I created my bag of tricks from the beautiful basket my sister in law gave us for our wedding.  In it are journals, markers, pencils, stickers, tags and notecards I use for journaling, researching my prayers, and my children’s prayer jars (the 3 big Mason jars on the table pictured above- follow up blog coming).

image

My favorite part of this process is being able to use the Bible my husband purchased for me for Christmas because I keep giving mine away! This one will stay with me for sure.

It’s really not hard to carve out Your space.  Maybe it’s just a chair, time alone in bed, a lawn chair.  Wherever it is, it is yours and you will reap the rewards of a praying life.   Mine started as just a table alone and now God blessed me with an entire room that I share with a man who loves me as Christ loved the church.  A man I submit to as the church does to Christ.  And together in this space we will fight the battles of our life and the lives of our loved ones on our knees and lift up our praises in a secret, sacred space together.

For this reason, I am blessed.

Goodnight and God bless!

I Am Blessed; He Found Favor

Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her!”
 Luke 1:45

The Hutchesons and Medinas
The Hutcheson’s and Medina’s

He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.
Proverbs 18:22

On July 25 Lee and I had close to 90 of our closest friends and family in our backyard to celebrate one of the biggest events in our lives.  It was one of the greatest joys to see all 6 of our children at one time.

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children. Isaiah 54:13

The Boys
Josh, Mac and Austin

These 6 young men and young women are our greatest joys.  They gave us 8 beautiful grandchildren.  They have given us and continue to give us some beautiful memories like the 3 boys playing baseball in our front yard at our rehearsal dinner or the girls helping me get ready on our wedding day.

They are our proudest accomplishments in life.  Lee’s kids drove 5-6 hours from Oklahoma to be there for us.  They toted 7 of 8 grandchildren with them.  My kids were voluntold to be in full wedding mode for the entire week.  We had to attend a State Baseball Tournament and get the house ready for company and it was just Lee and I.  Were there mishaps?  OH YES!  Did it go as planned?  OH NO!

The heat was grueling outside as well as inside our home.  The ceremony had some

Marissa, Megan and Natalie

mishaps. The misters never got turned on, the unity candle was forgotten our minister forgot parts of the ceremony and that was just the ceremony.  The reception went to who knows where very quickly.  We did not have the father-daughter dance, we did not have our first dance.  We changed, we ate, we cut the cake and then we were off to our honeymoon.  If it could go wrong that day, it did. It was so bad the photographer had to remind us we never took our picture alone together right before we left out the door for San Antonio.  Over 300 pics taken and only 2 were of me and Lee together-at the end of the day, tired, worn out and exhausted.

Neither side of my mom or dad’s family showed up.  Only one aunt thought enough of us to send a gift out of 9 aunts and uncles and about 10 cousins.  Not that it is about the gifts but even a card or acknowledgement would have been nice.

I was a little saddened because this vision of the day I had in my head did not happen. My wedding party was hot and cranky.  Our to-do lists did not get followed.  Lee and I had to escape many times for a couple minutes alone to regroup.  But at the end of the day, I Groomsmenwould do it all over again.   I am Lee’s wife and the people who mattered most showed up for us.  I became Mrs. Hutcheson and for the rest of my life I will have my best friend for better or worse.  I am blessed to have a man who puts me on a pedestal. I am his queen and he is my king and together we will love and serve the LORD in our home.

Whatever happened or didn’t happen that day, I will always remember the day of our firstBridesmaids kiss as man and wife.  I will remember it was in our backyard of the first home we now share as man and wife with 2 of our 6 children. I will remember the happiness that came upon me as he slipped that ring on my finger. I will remember we have a lifetime of memories to be made together.

My life isn’t perfect but it’s the perfect life for me.  It is the one God intended for us.  Lee and I will live it out together getting our son through high school and transitioning our daughter to adulthood.  We will begin Lee’s ministry work and I will continue to share my love for the senior population playing bingo, doing arts n crafts, and sharing my guidance on Medicare and community resources to help them.  This is the life!

Me with my two boys-Mac and Chase
Me with my two boys-Mac and Chase

On July 25, 2015 God gave me the biggest blessing I have ever been given besides my 3 children.  He blessed me with the most amazing man who I can say is my best friend, my personal pastor, my life-mate, my love.  He is my husband!

God Bless and Goodnight!

How to Pick Up Your Crown Step 1

Revelation 3.20

In the blog, Pick Up Your Crown, Girl I discussed 10 steps to gaining confidence.  So step 1 to pick up your crown and owning it, is to come to know the Lord through a personal relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  I know that at this point you are probably thinking oh great another preaching on getting closer to God and I will tell you, YES!  You are probably also thinking, I’m a bad person.  God doesn’t want people like me.  God only wants “good” people.  Wrong!  I tell everyone, especially my kids, there was only ONE perfect person on this earth and his name is Jesus Christ born of the Virgin Mary.  Who is your mother and What is your name?

My mother is Benita Medina and I am Myra Medina. I am not perfect!   When I first came to know God I was in this position:  Single mom, 3 kids, 3 different dads, raised Catholic praying to Saints and Mary, obviously with 3 children I had fallen from grace many times and had just an all around unhappiness.  I had just left the one man in this life who I thought loved me more than anything and he did except for two things-alcohol and drugs.  I had transitioned from our beautiful home with cars lining the driveway for every occasion to no car, no job, living with my parents and no way of taking of myself.  I had a man who paid the bills, took care of the cars and yard and all I had to do was go workout, clean the house and cook dinner on occasion.  I could not tell you anything about our home and its expenses except that we lived on Oak Tree Lane in Midlothian, TX and it was clean.     So, at that time I came to know Jesus all I could think was “Why me, Lord?”

Soon tragedy struck my middle child, Marissa, and I found the Lord through a stranger at the hospital.  Life did not instantly turn to sunshine and roses but it did get easier day by day.  I had grown up a very spoiled child.  I then found a man who played into that and gave me everything I wanted needed and desired.  I rarely from the time I was a baby to the time I was about 30 heard the word “no” from anyone.  I stuck my nose up in the air to people and situations.  Between my parents and Lee I had everything I ever wanted and so did my children.  But that night in the hospital my whole life changed.  Over time I came to know this man named Jesus.  For many years to follow He was my one true love.  He was a father to my children.  He was my everything I had been searching for.  And He told me No many, many times.  We fought about that on several occasions but i quickly found that unanswered prayers are still answered prayers

To get to this relationship with the Lord has taken many years, a lot of faith and a path down a road-The Roman’s Road.  I have heard salvation preached many different ways.  But when I heard from a very dear friend of mine about the Roman’s Road I thought he was crazy.  But he wanted me to better understand what I was committing to in my new relationship with the Lord.  It is the best explanation I have heard.

” For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of the Lord”  Romans 3:23 NKJV;

No matter if you are what you think to be a good person or what some think of as a bad person God sees that ALL have sinned.  Not some but ALL have sinned.  He also tells us that ALL fall short of God’s glory as well.  Think about that.  ALL fall short!  Whether you are a sexual predator or “good” person doing works God tells us that we ALL fall short.

As it is written “there is none righteous, no, not one; Romans 3:10 NKJV

Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned.  Romans 5:12

What are God’s laws?  What does the Bible tell us and where do we begin to learn the basic principles of living.  Simple:  The 10 commandments.  Have you lied?  Have you disrespected your parents?  Did you play keeping up with the Jones’ because you coveted your neighbors goods?  You have broken God’s law and God tells us in James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

Step 1:  Admit you are a sinner

For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our LORD.  Romans 6:23

Sin leads to death.  There is also something known as a spiritual death.  It occurs when we continuously sin.  It alienates us from God and it can last for eternity.  There is a place called Hell for those who die this kind of death..  But when we come to know Jesus our sins die and God gives us the gift of Grace.  Grace is the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the bestowal of blessings.

Step 2: Understand that our sins deserve the death penalty

Step 3:  Ask God to forgive you of your sins and save you

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.  Romans 5:8

God tells us in John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Jesus died on the cross for us and our sins. He paid the final price for our sins with the understanding we believe in Him and what He does for us. The wages of sin have been paid!

Step 4:  Believe in Him and accepts his gift of life; Give your life to God!

that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:9-10

So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. Romans 10:17

Step 5:  If you feel God knocking on your heart, open it for Him.  Ask Him to come into your heart and save you!

Ask God to come into your heart and make you new.  God tells us in revelations all we have to do is ask for He says “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Revelation 3:20

So, if you feel called, ask!  Even if you have been saved and feel the need to rededicate your life-ask!  The only guaranteed no from God is the unasked question!  I have rededicated my life recently because I have not always been on a straight path with Jesus.  But I am now!  And this time, it’s a lifetime commitment.  That’s the blessing of my relationship with the LORD.  He is always there for me-unconditionally whenever I am ready to receive Him.  No matter how bad I messed up or how far I have strayed, just as a mother loves her child, God loves us.

Step 6:  The final step is to pray!  Pray a prayer of salvation that includes all the steps above.  Invite Jesus into your heart and see how your life changes day by day.

As I have said, life will not be sunshine and roses immediately.  But over time, you will learn as you dig deeper in God’s word that You, my dear sister in Christ, deserve God’s grace and favor.  You are precious in His sight. No matter where you are right now you can dust yourself off and have a conversation with the LORD and be saved!

You are a child of the most high God.  He is the King of kings and LORD of lords.  So, Pick Up Your Crown, Girl!  Then get connected in a church community, bible study,  online bible study, and whatever you need to keep you grounded in the faith of Jesus Christ who saves you!

Send us a prayer request and let us know you have accepted God as your Lord and savior.  If you have questions, ask!  I am here to help and bless those with the knowledge I’ve received and help spread the joy of the LORD!  I will pray for you and answer any questions you might have.  If you give us your address, we might just send something special in the mail for you.

I am blessed to have shared this word with you today!

God bless and goodnight!

Special Girl, Special Graduation-One of God’s Biggest Blessings

On June 4, 2015 my middle child, Marissa, overcame so many challenges mentally and physically and graduated from High school with a basic High School diploma.  We originally thought she would have to go with the state mandated special needs I-know-the-plans-I-have-for-you-says-the-LORDoptions but Belton High School pushed her (and I said many a prayer) and Marissa went into regular ed classes.  I could not be more proud than I am of this child.  All my children give me a reason to be proud to be their mom but his one-well, she’s just a miracle!

The doctor’s told me when she was born not to expect much from her.  They said I needed to prepared for an early departure from her-maybe by age 2.  But Marissa (and God) had other plans.  Her first 5 years were pretty traumatic.  About 5-6 surgeries including 2 brain surgeries.  It is because of this child that I developed a relationship with the Lord.  When she was having her second brain surgery after having a shunt malfunction, we had a 2 week stay in the hospital.  However, one night I couldn’t sleep.  I was worried.  Marissa was always a lively little girl.  Never sad always happy.  But for the first time I saw my daughter’s struggle.  I saw her in pain and suffering.  Any mother out there can relate to me saying nothing will bring you to your knees faster than your child’s sufferings.

So I took a stroll down to the chapel where the woman in the room next to us had been staying.wpid-fb_img_1422970462430.jpg  After a long talk and a lot of crying, she saved me.  She showed me how to have an intimate relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  So, even though our first five years were rocky, if Marissa had not been in my life, I don’t know that I would know the Lord as I do now.  She is a blessing for a lot of reasons.

So this post is dedicated to one of my 3 most precious accomplishments in this life -Marissa Ashley Medina

Graduation week started with the Baccalaureate services on Sunday.

wpid-20150531_152211.jpg then we went on to the ceremony Thursday evening.

wpid-img_0281.jpgwpid-img_0292.jpgwpid-img_0278.jpg

And she did it!  So now we can go party for Project Celebration.  That was kind of when it all sank in for me that my baby girl, this little girl who took me to Holland instead of Italy (only special needs mom really know this reference) has grown into a beautiful young woman.  Even though I went to Holland instead of Italy, it has been the best ride of my life!  We have had ups and downs but it is these ups and down that have helped me grow as an individual, a woman and a mother.

A week later we had her graduation dinner with the family and friends

Look at that yummy goodness inside that cake!!!

Awpid-fb_img_1434305667193.jpgnd then there’s the party itself.  My mom and aunt, Juana, on my mom’s side helped out tremendously;  Without them this event would not have happened since I have been wrapped up in my wedding as well as my career. I don’t know what I would do without my parents and all the support they give me and my children.

My aunt made these awesome centerpieces pictured just below my beautiful niece and brother.

Then Marissa visited with some very close friends and relatives.  We opted for a Mexican retaurant venue we use for work quite often.  Rio Bravo in Plano is the best!  The staff was cordial and they are always awesome to us.

There’s Rhea who was her shadow at Fellowship Church Grapevine since she was in 2nd grade.  However, the two quickly connected and Rhea became family very quickly giving me a break as a single mom she and Rick would pick up Megan, Marissa and MacKenzie to give me a break once a month.  Total Godsends those two are……..

All in all it was a great two week span celebrating Marissa and her accomplishments. It use to terrify me to get her into adulthood.  But now, I know God has plans for her.  I don’t know what they are, but they are there.  Together, Marissa, Lee and I will figure them out for her. And I will continue to be blessed to be her mom!

Pick Up Your Crown, Girl!

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. Psalm 139:14

As I reflect on my week, I realize how much I have counseled women on confidence!  This breaks my heart for a lot of reason but mostly because I know the feeling.  I have been beaten down.  I have been used and abused emotionally, sexually and physically.  I have carried shame.  I have carried guilt.  But then God put all these amazing people around me to show me how fearfully and wonderfully made I truly am.  True story, they are all church-going, actively involved Christians.  Amazing people!

I could not have done life without them guiding me, leading by example.  I have been shown that I can do life and overcome my past.  But most important of all, I was shown that God, the most high Heavenly Father, loves me no matter what.  When I was alone, He was with me.  When I was a single mom, he was my co-parent. As I look back at that time when I was feeling unsure of myself, I realize how much even though I wasn’t being loyal to Him, He was carrying me and loyal to me.

which God will bring about in his own time–God, the blessed and only Ruler, the King of kings and Lord of lords,
 1 Timothy 6:15

I wish someone had told me what I told the women I spoke to this week, including my daughters.  I told them to “Pick up your crown, girl”! Every little girl, young lady, grown woman on this earth deserves to wear a crown.  We are the princesses of the most High God. He is the King of kings and Lord of lords.  He himself tells us in Psalm 139:14 that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.  Who else do we need to hear it from?  God is about as high as you can go when it comes to the food chain! God asks you this question in Galatians 1:10 For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ. How are you going to answer Him?

I didn’t get over my confidence issues easily. It took some action steps.  Here they are in written form ( I will expand on these in the days to come):

  • Accepted God as my Lord and Savior
  • Give God the Glory always for all the good stuff
  • Keep honoring God and being faithful to Him during the hard times
  • Find a good church based Bible study and join the women’s group
  • Study the word at home
    • Read your Bible
    • Set time aside each and every day for God
  • Pray, Pray, and Pray some more
  • Find my worth
  • Find my value
  • Surround yourself with sisters in Christ who lift you up
  • Find a mentor or two or three 🙂

The best resource I have read on this is Tracie Miles’ book “Your Life Still Counts“.  Awesome read and worth the time to sift through the pages of it and the Bible.  Tracie currently has a bible study (click here for more information) and the Facebook group is here.  If you can’t afford the book, you can message them privately, they have resources to send you one.  All excuses removed!

I close by saying this:  Pick up your crown, Girl.  You are a valuable resource to those around you.  You are a beautiful child, young lady, and/or grown woman who is fearfully and wonderfully made.  If noone else tells you this, I just did.  I don’t know you but I do know you are a child of God and God does not make mistakes!!!

God bless!

Myra 🙂

Franks Lavendar Mint Facial Scrub and Franks Facial Cream

I know there are a thousand recipes out there but here is my version and my reason.  Today was an extremely stressful day.  What am I saying?   This whole week has been stressful.  I won’t go into the negative details because I do not believe in feeding into and giving recognition to the chaos and negativity around me.  However, that said, today I came home from work in just in time to pamper myself and feed my spirt.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:  2-4

Lee dropped off the kids with my parents this morning since we will be busy the next couple of days caring for our careers and my parents help us gear up for Marissa’s Graduation Party this Saturday (the emotional graduation post is coming this weekend-stay tuned!).  Did I mention how awesome my parents are?  Always helping me with my kids and our needs.  They are the two most supportive people in my life next to Lee and the kids.  But I digress 🙂 wpid-img_20150610_071659.jpg

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought joy to my soul. Psalm 94:19

I was blessed to come home in time to spend quality time with him and myself.  In my self time, I turned on my diffuser with some Joy EO and Purification EO……..best smell around and really elevates the mood in the home.  Plus it smells good.  Next I decided I needed a quick fix so I fixed my energy drink:  Water, 3 drops of Peppermint Oil and 5 drops of Citrus Fresh Oil then I add E-Mer-Gen-C.  It looks like the pic to the right.  Yummy stuff.  The 5 lbs I’ve lost is just an added benefit…….woot!woot!

Cast your cares on the LORD and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous fall. Psalm 55:22

So, after my drink I decided I needed some pampering.  So, I made some face scrub and face cream since my mom took mine.  Here’s how I did it:

Franks Lavendar Mint Face Scrub

1/3 cup granulated sugar

1 TBSP Honey

4-5 TBSP Coconut Oil

10 drops Frankincense

10 drops Lavendar

5 drops Peppermint

Mix together in a glass container so all ingredients are combined.  Store in a dark cool place.  To use:  scoop out a small amount on your fingers (I use a popsicle stick to mix it up as the honey and oils will settle).  A little goes a long way.  Scrub lightly.  Wet a washcloth with hot water and place over the face to steam.  When the cloth is cooled wipe off and pat dry with a dry towel.  You will feel the minty tingling.  It’s a phenomenal feeling.  Only use once a week.

Franks Facial Cream

1/3 cup Coconut Oil

10 drops of Frankincense

10 drops of Lavendar

5 drops of Purificiation

Whip the oil for 5 minutes with a hand mixer or Kitchen Aid mixer. Remember to use a stainless steel or glass bowl.  I mix mine in the mason jars I use with my hand mixer and only use one whip.  Next, add the essential oils and whip another 5 minutes.  Before using I let it sit and settle.  It feels awesome on your skin.

WARNING:  This is a very moisture rich lotion.  A little goes a long way.    a little dab will cover your entire face, hands and arms.

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
To finish out a fabulous day with the fiance, we went to Texas Roadhouse for an early dinner with no children-just me and Lee having adult conversation with no little ear around.  Now that was the best part of my day.  When I finish this post we will go spend some much needed quiet time on the couch vegging out for the night!
I am blessed!
Goodnight and God Bless
