He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord ~ Proverbs 18:22 NKJV
If you have ever planned a wedding, then you know it can test the strongest of relationships. I have to give Lee some props for being extremely understanding and patient the past few weeks. After a long conversation, we have decided to move our venue from DFW to our backyard and this will save us thousands! In doing so, it has relieved all my stress and made my wedding fun again!
Driving back and forth to DFW, spending many weekends with my parents, and spending thousands per vendor versus hundreds. I was turning into Bridezilla, momzilla and just an all around zilla in every aspect of my life.
Then one morning during quiet time I asked God to give me guidance. I asked him to take away all my worries and stress. That afternoon He put it on my heart to talk to Lee about the wedding venue. We figured out we were making this what our family wanted and needed and not what we needed. And here we are in my backyard! It was the easiest decision for us both…….
The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps. Proverbs 16:9
Since that decision has been made, things have fallen into place:
I found a cheap rental facility $800 out the door for everything we need to accommodate 100 people
One of the men Lee works with in his ministry is doing the catering for a very reasonable rate (not yet determined)
My cake is $425 for a three tier and groom cake
My photographer is only $500 when the normal package runs $900 in my area
My bouquet has only cost me about $125 vs. $500
My flower girls are looking at $50 total for both girls
The decorations are costing about $5 per table
The outdoor signs and decor is budgeted at $300; craigslist is a Godsend………
And most of all, I have a peace of mind. But the biggest realization is seeing that when I followed what God had intended life got easier. Our wedding has been stagnant and not progressing and now we have so much done!
God is good!
This is what my flower girls will carry and be able to keep as a keepsake; I hope to see them used in their weddings some day……..
this is my bouquet; it is not 100% completed but maybe at 95% now
Today, we are spray painting and starting on table decorations. I am becoming a pro at burlap, muslin and lace flowers.
Pics will follow on my next update. For now, I’m off to clean, create and plan for the week.
Thanks for hanging in there during my lack of writings ……..more time will be available soon!
I am blessed to have you as a follower, my family and friends.
God is good!
A Blessed Woman 🙂
